Saratoga Street Condominiums

  • City: East Boston, Massachusetts
  • Notes:

This project was a speculative residential development in the East Boston neighborhood of Boston. Chace Architecture served as the developer, architect, and contractor for this project. This is one of 13 identical Italianate brick rowhouses built in the 1840’s on Saratoga Street. Having been neglected after a fire in the 1960’s, this was a top to bottom gut renovation. All that remained after demolition was the original brick exterior and floor framing. Zoning Board of Approval was granted to excavate the basement and allow for two duplex condominiums. Our strategy was to develop a distinctive property in a historical building that far exceeded the usual spec development available in the market place. We completed the project on time, and on budget. Both units sold at asking price, above market comps, within the first three months.
