Winchester Victorian Renovation

  • City: Winchester, Massachusetts
  • Notes:

This is a Victorian renovation and addition to an 1850’s folk Victorian that had lost much of its detail to the era of vinyl siding. Poorly executed additions throughout the century had left a very small kitchen and second floor bedroom largely isolated from the original main house. To solve this problem we designed a new kitchen addition with improved connections to the house through a new butler’s pantry and a mudroom entry. On the second floor we reorganized the existing bedrooms creating a more efficient layout while also adding a laundry and master bedroom en-suite. We tried to be faithful to the folk Victorian aesthetic on the exterior, rebuilding many of the details from that era. Phase two will use these details to fully complete the exterior.
