Wellesley Multi-Generational Living

  • City: Wellesley
  • Notes:

This project will replace the familial home of 45 year residents of Wellesley on the popular Fuller Brook Path.  It is designed to provide a home that will allow the family matriarch to age in place surrounded by her son, his wife, and her 5 grandchildren.

An irregularly shaped site it has three public facades, two street fronts and the path itself.

The design has developed in a way to keep the mass of the house toward the center of the site, while descending volumes pin-wheeling from the center respond to the size and scale of the adjacent community.

Rendered as a modern version of a simple “stick” style Victorian home, we utilized varying siding applications to differentiate masses of the house.  We have integrated a porch on two facades to provide depth, shadow, and texture to those facades and employed natural wood accents in response to the woodland path.

Subject to the strict requirements of the wetlands Conservation Commission and the Wellesley Large House review process this project must respond to intense public review.
